NOVEMBER 1, 2010 - GIVE UP YOUR "SHOULDS" DAY

November 1, 2010 is the Third Annual Give Up Your "Shoulds" Day.  What is Give Up Your "Shoulds" Day?  I happened to come across this holiday on a holiday calendar, Brownielocks and the Three Bears, which had a link to The Absolutely Should-less Blog, a blog created by Damon L. Jacobs, a licensed Marriage Family Therapist.

On November 1st, Damon L. Jacobs is inviting people to give up a certain "SHOULD" that leads to stress, guilt, misery, or any sort of sadness.  Some of the examples of "SHOULD" he says people gave up last year included:

-  I SHOULD clean the house
-  I SHOULD go to the gym
-  I SHOULD be making more money
-  I SHOULD lose weight
-  I SHOULD be getting more work done.

The examples above are things we should be doing, but the goal of this holiday is not to give up doing these things, but giving up the thoughts and beliefs you carry as you move through your life.

Gifts For One Gifts For All Too encourages you to visit Damon Jacobs' blog The Absolutely Should-less Blog, for more infomation about this holiday and the events, contest, giveaways Damon will be offering on this holiday.

Also tune in to his special one hour broadcast on BlogTalk Radio with his guest actress Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie from General Hospital) at 2 PM EST (11 AM PST) on November 1, 2010.  Damon invites people to call in and discuss the "SHOULDS" they are willing to try to give up for one day, and any obstacles to having a "should-less" day. Following that event Damon will be holding a Twitter conference answering questions about "shoulds", or anything else he is asked.

To celebrate Give Up Your Shoulds Day, Gifts For One Gifts For All Too will be giving away $10 OFF Coupon to use at Gifts For One Gifts For All to anyone that shares the "Shoulds" they're giving up.  Just leave a comment or tweet us on twitter.

MY BLASTOFF NETWORK UPDATE.....

MY BLASTOFF NETWORK EXPERIENCE.....

This is just a quick update on my experience with the Blastoff Network. In my previous Blastoff Network Update, I mentioned I sent a message in the Blastoff Network Community Message Board to inquire how long it would take for a cash rebate that had been approved to be paid. The response was that the payments should be made in the next cycle of checks that would be issued which was February 15, 2010.

Over the weekend, I checked my account the weekend of February 21, 2010, and the cash rebates marked as "APPROVED" had been upgraded to "PAID", which means I have $27.62 coming my way soon. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to get to my P.O. Box to see if it's arrived. When I checked my account, I also noticed that cash rebate for the flowers I ordered for Valentines Day had credited to my account.

I still have approximately $28.00 due from previous purchases that are still "PENDING" that need to be upgraded to "APPROVED". I sent an email to customer service so they can follow up with the merchants I made purchases from previously. I'll keep you posted on how that goes. With my next post I hope to report more good news that I've cashed my check and expecting to get another check soon.

WHAT IF 100,000 PEOPLE.......

I was thinking, we’re in the midst of tax season and soon people will be receiving their tax refund. For some people, a tax refund is like getting extra money they didn’t expect or having someone repay a loan that they forgot about.

Then I got to thinking, "what if 100,000 people donated $10 from their tax refund to Haitian Relief efforts?" That would be $1,000,000.00 in donations. In receiving a tax refund, it’s money we’ve managed to do without all year long. So I ask, would we really miss $10.00 from our tax refund? For those of you that say you would not miss $10.00, I challenge you to donate $10 of your tax refund to the charity of your choice helping Haitian earthquake victims.

But I won’t let you go empty handed. For your display of generosity, Gifts For One Gifts For All will give you a DONATION REFUND in the form of a $10 eCOUPON to its online gift store. A minimum purchase of $20.00 is required to redeem the eCOUPON. With a purchase of $30.00 or more, 20% of your purchase will be donated to the charity of your choice. Now what if the 100,000 people redeemed their eCOUPONs for a purchase of $30.00? I estimate $4.00 would be donated per order times 100,000 to equal an additional $400,000.00. There’s the potential to raise $1,400,000.00.

There are several organizations raising money for Haitian earthquake victims. One website that has recently caught my attention on Twitter is A Home In Haiti (http://ahomeinhaiti.org/).  The organization operating this website has led an effort to acquire tents for Haitians before the rain season begins.  This website allows donors the option of purchasing a tent directly from their website and they've arranged for free shipping of the tent donation to their facilities or allow donors to make a donation to the organization for tents to be purchased.  I have made one donation through my fundraiser donating $0.50/new follower on Twitter or this blog to Haitian Relief efforts and I'll be making another in the near future.

While the focus is on raising money for organizations providing relief for Haitian earthquake victims, I understand that other not-for-profit organizations are experiencing difficulties raising funds for their programs. Therefore, the Gifts For One Gifts For All Donation Refund is extended to any not-for-profit organization benefiting from the donation of your $10.00 tax refund.

To receive your Donation Refund, follow Gifts For One Gifts For All (www.twitter.com/Gift41Gifts4All) on Twitter or send an email to info@giftsforonegiftsforall.com and type “DONATION REFUND” in the subject line. You'll receive a response providing the eCOUPON code for $10.00 OFF at Gifts For One Gifts For All on 3,000+ gift items.

Please share this blog post with your family and friends.  Don't forget to read the other blog posts for other ways Gifts For One Gifts For All is helping Haitian earthquake victims.

FIRST OF MANY DONATIONS MADE TO HELP HAITIAN EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS!

Gifts For One Gifts For All Too recently made the first of many donations to help Haitian earthquake victims for $100.00 in addition to previous donations made.  We've also given hundreds of $10 eCOUPONs and expect to donate 10% of the net proceeds when the recipients redeem them at Gifts For One Gifts For All.

In a previous post, Gifts For One Gifts For All Too pledge to use this blog and the online gift store, Gifts For One Gifts For All to raise money for Haitian earthquake victims.  There are several ways this will be accomplished, including but not limited to:
The income raised from the methods described above will be donated to Save the Children to help my wife reach her goal of raising $3,000.00 through the FirstGiving site.

Save the Children is an organization my wife has been involved with for a number of years as a sponsor of a child from Haiti and they have a good track record with Charity Navigator of having 90%+ of donations being used for its program expenses as opposed to adminstrative and fundraising expenses.  If you're interested in making a donation to help her reach her goal, I have included a widget below for your convenience.  If you're interested in starting your own fundraiser, visit http://www.firstgiving.com/ and search for Save the Children or the charity of your choice.

I want to thank my new Twitter followers and encourage you to follow this blog as well as share it with your friends.  Remember, we're donating $0.50/new blog follower as well.

WHAT IS THE BLASTOFF NETWORK???

MY BLASTOFF EXPERIENCE

A months ago, I posted a blog entry about Gifts For One Gifts For All joining the Blastoff Network and I wanted to provide an update on my experience. I happened to check my rewards or commission earned on previous purchases made. My Rewards total was $48.58 and of this total, $23.12 had been approved for payment and $25.46 was still pending for approval.

The purchases I made were for airline tickets and a rental car for the Thanksgiving holiday and luggage I purchased just before the Christmas holiday. The airline tickets and rental car purchase was not credited to my account until the services were provided. Purchases for luggage appeared as expected on the account. Just as I began to wonder when the purchases would go from “PENDING” to “APPROVED” a portion of the purchases status change.

Today I signed on to the Blastoff Network community, which is a customer support message board. I decided to post a question to find out when I would receive the check for the purchases approved. Within about 20 minutes, someone had responded to my question. I was informed I would receive a check when the next cycle of checks are issued in mid-February. The online approach to receiving cash rebates makes it possible to track the progress of your cash rebate and I think this could be the new alternative to mailing in receipts to claim a rebate and the worry of missing the deadline to receive your cash back reward.

Another good thing is that my purchases where made through online retailers I’m familiar with and have used before like Priceline.com and Budget and I discovered a new store, Luggage Online. I simply had to accessed their sites from the FREE Blastoff Network website I created that combines news and information, music and video players, games and social networking tools like Twitter and Facebook in one place. I also have access to 400+ online retailers that are part of the Blastoff Network that provide notices of specials, promotions or electronic coupons available for extra savings in addition to the cash back rebates.

I see the Blastoff Network as a tool Gifts For One Gifts For All Too can use to help people save money when they shop online as well as help them earn extra money. I also see the potential for this to be a way not-for-profits can raise money. In fact, I’ll be donating the income generated from my Blastoff Network to help Haitian earthquake victims and you can help me if you decide to join my network or shop through my site.

To learn more about the Blastoff Network, CLICK HERE to visit my Gifts For One Gifts For All Mall and if you like what you see, please join my network.  Don't forget to keep following my blog as I continue to share my BLASTOFF experience.

HELP FOR HAITI

Through January 21, 2010, several bloggers have united under the direction of Crystal at Money Saving Mom who has written a blog titled "Help for Haiti: Everyone Can Do Something - Comment or Link Up and We'll Donate!"  Crystal has asked the bloggers and their readers to do one or more of the following:

     -  PRAY for Haitian earthquake victims,
    -  GIVE to help Haitian earthquake victims and offers a numbers of ways to donate, and
    -  BLOG about what you've done to help Haitian earthquake victims

In addition, Crystal  and her husband have pledged to donate $10 to Compassion's outreach in Haiti for every person who blogs about what they specifically did to help those in Haiti and leaves their link by January 21, 2010.  Many bloggers have followed Crystal's lead by making similar donations between $0.10 to $5.00 per comment or link left on their blog to charities of their choice and Gifts For One Gifts For All Too is going to follow suit.

   -  Follow the Gifts For One Gifts For All Too Blog - we'll donate $0.50/Follower
    -  Link up to this blog entry using the widget below - we'll donate $0.50/Link
    -  Leave a comment for this blog entry - we'll donate $0.25/Comment

When you become a Twitter follower, Facebook fan, blog follower, leave a link or comment on this blog entry, you will receive a $5.00 eCOUPON to Gifts For One Gifts For All.  A minimim purchase of $15.00 is required to redeem the eCOUPON and with a purchase of $20.00 or more, 10% of your purchase will be donated to Haitian earthquake victims.

I will make donations as described above up to $500.00 to Save the Children.  I have selected this organization because my wife has been involved with this organization and for several years has sponsored a child that lives in Haiti.  In addition, over 90% of the funds donated to Save the Children go towards the programs as opposed to administrative and fundraising expenses, ensuring money donated benefits thoses it was donated to benefit.  My wife has set a goal of raising $3.000.00 for Save the Children so your help will help me and if you're interested in donating to this organization, I encourage you to make a donation to her page as well or set up your own site.

In addition to the $500.00 donation, I will also donate 100% the income generated through this blog to organizations helping Haitian earthquake victims.  This blog earns income through the following sites:

    -  Gifts For One Gifts For All (100% of income generated from links on this blog will be donated)

    -  Gifts For One Gifts For All's Online Shopping Mall (100% of income generated from 400+ online retail stores)

January is National Thank You Month - Give a FREE $10.00 THANK YOU eCOUPON

Looking for blog topics for Gifts For One Gifts For All Too and a cause to support for Gifts For One Gifts For All's Cause of the Month, I discovered that January is National Thank You Month.  This is a great opportunity to thank the people you may have overlooked.

Start by making a list of people you want to thank.  Now think of how you want to thank them.  Some ideas include:
  • Send a Thank You card,
  • Bake a cake or cookies,
But these are just a couple of ideas and I'm sure there are plenty other good ideas.  As for myself, I'll be sending Thank You cards with a Gifts For One Gifts For All "Thank You" eCOUPON worth $10.00 of at Gifts For One Gifts For All

If you want to give Gifts For One Gifts For All "Thank You" eCOUPONs to the people you want to thank during National Thank You Month, you can create your own eCOUPONs.  The eCOUPON Code to use at checkout at www.giftsforonegiftsforall.com is "THANKS".  You can print 8 - 12 "Thank You" eCOUPONs on a 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper, cut them out and insert in Thank You cards, or email Thank You eCards to family and friends and include the Gifts For One Gifts For All "Thank You" eCOUPON Code.  As an added bonus, when the eCOUPON is redeemed for a purchase of $30.00 or more, 10% of the purchase will be donated to the cause they designate at checkout as part of our "Cause of the Month" and "Shop For A Cause" Programs.

I look forward to celebrating National Thank You Month and raising money for worthwhile causes.

CAUGHT YA CARDS

There have been movements like "Pay It Forward" and "29 Gifts in 29 Days Giving Challenge" that encourage people to help one another.  The good deeds can range from something as small as giving your spare change to someone in need to something that will have a life-changing impact on the lives of others.

This has inspired me to come up with a way I can use this blog and my online gift store, Gifts For One Gifts For All to encourage and reward people for doing something positive.  Then I remembered a course I took geared at recognizing people doing something nice for someone else that was above and beyond the call of duty.  As part of the course, we had a homework assignment, where we were given "Caught Ya!!!" Cards.  What are Caught Ya Cards, you ask?  The cards provided in the course where cards given to individuals that had performed an act of kindness or went to extra mile to help someone.  The person observing the act of kindness would fill out the card providing the name of the person performing the act of kindness and describe the act and give the card to that individual.  The purpose of the cards was to recognize people doing something positive and encouraging them to continue their acts of kindness.

I've decided to build on this concept as part of my commitment to encourage and reward people to perform acts of kindness by creating my own Gifts For One Gifts For All "Caught Ya" Cards.  The Gifts For One Gifts For All "Caught Ya" Cards commend the recipient for doing something nice and rewards them with a $10.00 OFF eCOUPON to the online gift store.  A minimum purchase of $20.00 is required to redeem the coupon and if the recipient spends $30.00 or more, then 10% of their purchase is donated to cause supported by Gifts For One Gifts For All in its Shop For A Cause Program. It's a great way to recognize and reward someone for commiting acts of kindness and give them an opportunity to continue to do something positive when they shop.

My goal is to distribute as many "Caught Ya" Cards as possible and raise money for worthwhile causes.  But I don't want to have all the fun, so anyone looking to join in on the fun can reproduce or request Gifts For One Gifts For All "Caught Ya" Cards to distribute themselves to people they see performing acts of kindness.  If you're interested in receiving Gifts For One Gifts For All "Caught Ya" Cards, just email me at info@giftsforonegiftsforall.com and type "Caught Ya Cards" in the subject line.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Another year and decade is behind us and a new year and decade has started.  With the start of the new year, comes the opportunity to renew our commitments to ourselves, our friends and family, and our community and country.

As the author of the blog Gifts For One Gifts For All Too and the owner of the online gift store Gifts For One Gifts For All, I pledge to use them to help make a positive difference by:
  • Raising funds and awareness for worthwhile causes,
  • Sharing inspirational stories about good people doing good things,
  • Encourage others make a difference, and
  • Reward people making positive contributions.
I look forward sharing with you the efforts to make 2010 a GREAT YEAR.

And on a final note, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
